Based on visual assessment of disease severity, previous studies reported that tall genotypes tend to be more severely affected by Fusarium crown rot (FCR) in wheat and barley. To clarify whether tall and dwarf genotypes have different susceptibility to FCR or whether it takes longer for Fusarium pathogens to infect dwarf genotypes, histological analyses were conducted with two pairs of near isogenic lines (NILs) for a semi‐dwarfing gene in barley. This analysis showed that F. pseudograminearum hyphae were detected earlier and proliferated more rapidly during the time‐course of FCR development in the tall isolines. Histological analysis showed that cell densities of the dwarf isolines were significantly higher than those of the tall isolines due to reduced lengths and widths of cells, and FCR severity was strongly correlated with cell density. An analysis with real‐time quantitative polymerase chain reaction detected a higher amount of F. pseudograminearum in the tall isolines at each of the time points assessed during FCR development. These results support the hypothesis that the increased cell density associated with dwarf genes could act as a physical barrier to the spread of FCR in cereals.  相似文献

Recently, a lower than expected number of perikymata between repetitive furrow‐type hypoplastic defects has been reported in chimpanzee canines from the Fongoli site, Senegal (Skinner and Pruetz: Am J Phys Anthropol 149 (2012) 468–482). Based on an observation in a localized enamel fracture surface of a canine of a chimpanzee from the Taï Forest (Ivory Coast), these authors inferred that a nonemergence of striae of Retzius could be the cause for the “missing perikymata” phenomenon in the Fongoli chimpanzees. To check this inference, we analyzed the structure of outer enamel in three chimpanzee canines. The teeth were studied using light‐microscopic and scanning‐electron microscopic techniques. Our analysis of the specimen upon which Skinner and Pruetz (Am J Phys Anthropol 149 (2012) 468–482) had made their original observation does not support their hypothesis. We demonstrate that the enamel morphology described by them is not caused by a nonemergence of striae of Retzius but can be attributed to structural variations in outer enamel that result in a differential fracture behavior. Although rejecting the presumed existence of nonemergent striae of Retzius, our study provided evidence that, in furrow‐type hypoplastic defects, a pronounced tapering of Retzius increments can occur, with the striae of Retzius forming acute angles with the outer enamel surface. We suggest that in such cases the outcrop of some striae of Retzius is essentially unobservable at the enamel surface, causing too low perikymata counts. The pronounced tapering of Retzius increments in outer enamel presumably reflects a mild to moderate disturbance of the function of late secretory ameloblasts. 不同烤瓷牙内冠材料对产生龈缘黑线影响的分析   总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13  
目的:分析镍铬合金,金合金材料制作烤瓷内冠以及镍铬合金内冠涂制金粉对冠修复后产生龈缘黑线的影响。方法:对3052例烤瓷冠病例,分别用镍铬合金,金合金制作内冠以及运用金粉涂制镍铬合金内冠进行修复,经一年以上随访。对上述三种材料对产生龈缘黑线状况进行评价。结果:采用金合金制作内冠及对镍铬合金内冠粉制金涂制作烤瓷冠未产生龈缘黑线,而单纯用镍铬合金制作内冠,可能产生龈缘黑线。结论:镍铬合金烤瓷内冠不可避免会产生龈缘黑线,金合金烤瓷内冠避免了上述缺点,而镍铬合金内冠涂制金粉则是一条经济,实效的制作工艺。  相似文献

The fabriciin sabellid species, Fabricia nigra Langerhans, 1880 from the Macaronesian region, is assigned to the genus Pseudoaugeneriella Fitzhugh, 1998, based on information provided by newly collected specimens. The species is redescribed, including the variability of key characters. Moreover, structures of the anterior end — dorsal lips, ventral filamentous appendages, peristomial rings — of Pseudoaugeneriella nigra and other species of Fabriciinae are studied histologically and by means of SEM. The systematic significance of these characters in Fabriciinae is discussed.  相似文献

Crown sheath rot, caused by the ascomycete Gaeumannomyces graminis var. graminis that infects the root and the base of the culm of rice, causes early grains maturation, tiller death and reduced yield. As a paucity of information exists in the literature on the rice‐G. graminis var. graminis interaction at the microscopic level, this study aimed to gain novel insights into the infection process of this pathogen in the root and culm of rice using both light and scanning electron microscopy. In the roots, the fungus initially colonized the epidermal, exodermal and sclerenchyma cells. At 15 days after inoculation (dai), fungal hyphae colonized the cortex and clusters of perithecia were observed in the roots. At 20 dai, the fungus reached the central cylinder, and an intense fungal colonization at the base of the culm was observed that resulted in the formation of a mycelial mat on both adaxial and abaxial surfaces of the leaf sheaths. At 25 dai, fungal growth was noticed in the parenchyma cells, vascular bundles and airspaces. Perithecia emerged through the base of prophyllum and from the first leaf sheath at 30 dai. The results of this study provide new insights into the infection process of G. graminis var. graminis in rice and may help to find better control measures in reducing crown sheath rot development.  相似文献

Extracts of crown gall tumours induced on Kalanchoe daigremontiana by the biotype 3 strains AB-3, AT-6 and Hm-1 were compared with extracts of tumours induced by the wide host range octopine strain B6S3 for their ability to convert lysine, arginine, histidine and methionine into the corresponding opines: lysopine, octopine, histopine and methiopine. In contrast to B6S3 tumour extracts which readily converted all precursors into opines, extracts of tumour tissue induced by biotype 3 strains produced mainly lysopine and octopine. It can therefore be concluded that the enzymes found in tumours induced by AB-3, AT-6 and Hm-1 are different from the well-known lysopine dehydrogenase from B6S3 tumours.  相似文献

根据帽儿山天然次生林30块标准地每木检尺的实测数据,建立帽儿山天然次生林10种主要阔叶树冠径与胸径以及胸径和冠径与胸径比值(cd/D)之间的关系,并且简要论述冠径与胸径比值在树木空间、断面积和林分密度和间伐强度的应用。研究表明:胸径在10~30 cm之间,相关系数(R2)在0.8以上时,冠径与胸径关系近似一条直线。通过对不同树种的不同大小树木(cd/D)比值的分析,得出随着胸径的增加的比值是逐渐减小的,并且减小的趋势随着胸径的增加趋于平稳,最后趋于一个常数。  相似文献

Since the 1900s, consumer demand for new plant products gave opportunity for many plant pathogens to disseminate to new areas on imported seeds. New markets for plant commodities encouraged plant breeders to begin collecting seed stocks from abroad. The birth of new seed companies extend their markets to new area. These events began the global dissemination of many seedborne pathogens. Many seedborne pathogens gained entry and escaped detection by specific traits that favored their dissemination. Three recent case scenarios are presented that illustrate how plant pathogens that passively employ the seed coats of their host achieved global dissemination and permanence in each patho-system. Evidence is presented to show that asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) seed produced in the US acted as a vehicle for disseminating one vegetatively compatible group (VCG) of a pathogenic fungus on asparagus called Fusarium proliferatum throughout new plantings in Australia. Similarly, public demand for Mediterranean cuisine in the US and abroad during the last 20 years led to an increase in the importation of basil (Ocimum basilicum) seed along with an inconspicuous fungus called Fusarium oxysporum. The fungus caused a destructive disease called Fusarium wilt of basil that appeared in over 25 separate locals spanning three continents. The third example demonstrated how new developments in lupine (Lupinus spp.) cultivars and increased public demand led to the global dispersal of a seedborne pathogen called Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. Each case highlights how these pathogens use seeds, humans, and particular traits to disperse globally in short period of time.  相似文献
